This is a wave frag tank; I started working on this design about 6 month ago. I was thinking of how to generate a wave that might simulate small waves in the ocean.

I wanted to do this by only using one mechanical device, which would be the circulation pump that every tank needs.

I started out a bit big with this; I felt it necessary to make a 100 gallon tank to do proper testing. 96 x 27 x 12 + 14 inch deep reservoir. The tank works great and for those you that are planning to attend the April meeting will get a chance to see how this works.

I do have an interested buyer at this time and hopefully that will not take place until April 17th so you will get a chance to see this work.

thanks guys, this has been a fun project, i am now working on to new wave tanks plus making some wave makers to add to existing tanks, i will post some updates in this thread.

I really like the idea about adding on to existing tanks so that you could possibly have a glass tank instead of acrylic. Might be cheaper too. :)

you got me stumped...does that work like a toilet plunger? how does it stay closed? i love it...nice surge with no bubbles!!!

The wave tanks have come a long way from the original idea, I have made 6 large tanks and one very small frag tank all using this method. No toilet flushing, no not like that at all it is much simpler than that.

now it makes sense!! ya gota do the math to know how much water weight the magnets can hold back

did you use rubber magnets?
