Algea stupid stuff

My battle with Algea is on going gonna up the amount of GFO in my reactor see what happens.

Is it bryopis. Kindda looks like hair algae but in order to kill it up your magnesium to 1600 or 1700 ppm

Yeah, it's the frilly little stuff, as well as Cyano. Just this week I've started my 2 part dosing as i now have enough coral that require it. Parameters as of Lastnight are:

Temp: 78.6
Saline: 1.025
PH: 8.5
CA: 420
DKH:8.6
MAG: 1100

Actually ran out of Mag need to order more took 20 fl.oz to raise it to that lvl.

Ben you can use Epson salts for mag I use 8 cup per gallon. I only use this to raise and use BRS product to maintain. Heres a calc to help know how much to use to raise to the level you want.

Enter you total gallons in the system then enter what the mag is now and then what you want to raise it to then pick your product and it will tell you how much to use. It works for Calc & Alk also
hope this helps. Have you ever checked your incoming water for TDS?? Not sure if you use RO water but if your putting more crap in than taking out its going to be a long battle!!! If your ever over this way (Pekin) bring a sample of your makeup water & sample of tank water and I'll check it on my hanna (PO4) & Hach (NO4) to see where you are really at!!

That looks like some naaaasty algae! Raising my mag helped to get rid of a patch I had, for sure. Dave, did you mean to say 8 CUPS per gallon of Epsom? Dang!

No Thats 8 cups Epson Salts to 1 gallon of water. This makes a pretty strong mixture so you dont need that much to raise Mag
