It's a small trip, but went to S. Illinois about 7 miles from Kentucky for a couple of days with two guys I got my dive certification with. Its a really small rock quarry about 8.5 acres with depths up to a 120 ft. Amazing part is they sunk like 4 planes a school bus, a semi and about 50 other huge objects to dive in and around.
Today a saw my first paddle fish, a little over 4 ft long, so bizarre.
I guess they also have fresh water jelly fish, which I didn't know existed outside Palau.
Their claim to fame is the Boeing 727 from the movie US Marshals rest in about 60 ft of water.
Worth the trip, so any of you divers let me know if you want to go next year when the water is warmer than 51 degrees. Man I need a dry suite certification!

Mermet is a great place Paul, this spring I'm wanting to go hit up Crystal Lake if your interested. up on the border of Illinois and Wisconsin. let me know, I definitely want to wait until the water temperature is higher than 51 degrees!

Thanks Ryan I'm in, small trips I can afford and won't leave the tank unattended for too long.
Yeah, even completely covered in 7mm after about 30 min was starting to loose feeling in several places, of course the guys I was with have been wearing dry suites since september.

Paul,

Brian from aquamoon said that he knows of a wreck in Lake Michigan just off the shore near evansville? if you're game we should check it out this spring instead of Crystal Lake. I'll have the boat ready to go and we can just dive off it. Let me know, I'm guessing the water temp early to mid spring will be around 55, if you don't have a nice 7mm suit get with Jan at Do Dive In, she'll rent you a nice semi-dry 8-9mm on the cheap. Keep you nice and warm. Top the dive off with a few beers afterwards and could make for a great sunday trip.

Any other divers out there want to go and get their fins wet speak up, the more the merrier.

Ryan
